$30 Nightstand Makeover – Craft Room Project #6

Today I’m wrapping up my craft room series with one final before & after. When I rearranged the guest room furniture, I realized I had a serious nightstand deficiency. My first move was stealing this cute black table from our upstairs tv room. That took care of one side of the bed, but there was a vast space on the other side BEGGING me to fill it before I took the room reveal pictures.

Black Nightstand

Of course, I didn’t realize how much I needed the space filled until I started taking pictures. I briefly panicked that I needed a new piece of furniture…at 6 PM…on a Sunday…with pretty much no budget left.

After striking out at the first couple stores, I found a little gem at Marshall’s for $29.99. It was an inch shorter than my ideal measurements, but I thought I could make it work.

Before Nightstand Makeover

My first plan to raise the height was to add casters, but I couldn’t find the right size at Lowes. However, the casters were located by the drawer pulls and I had a wacky idea. We have a stash of pulls purchased on clearance that didn’t work in our kitchen. I decided I could use four of them as feet on my new table!!!

Nightstand Feet

I hot glued one to each foot. Once the glue was dry, the knobs actually made much sturdier feet than I expected. And I saved money by using something we already had around the house!

Drawer Pull as Table Leg

My plan was to paint the entire table black to balance the other nightstand. Once I started painting the legs, I was LOVING the two tone look of the black legs and wood top. I finished painting the legs while continuing to binge watch Hart of Dixie on Netflix 🙂

Painted Night Stand

When the paint was dry, the real fun began and I got to move the table next to bed and get it photo ready!

Here’s a shot that shows both nightstands at once. I’m really happy with how it turned out considering I stole one from another room and found the other for $30 on a Sunday night 🙂

Nightstands in Guest Room

The color of the wood top looks perfect with my birdy lamp. I love mixing things that are a little rustic with items that are a little modern.

Night Stand After

That wraps up the craft room/guest room series! I have loved your reactions even more than I love the room. Each day I get the nicest comments and I LOVE every one of them. When I started blogging, I underestimated how amazing it would feel to not only HAVE readers, but to have readers that consistently encourage me. And when you say I have inspired you? I melt. So thank you for giving me the confidence to tackle a full room. Because of you, I have an awesome space AND the feeling that I can conquer whatever space I set out to attack next!

Don’t miss any of the craft room series!

What a great solution to use the drawer pulls as feet to raise up the table!

Thanks Kelly, I was feeling a little MacGyver-ish as I was gluing them on 🙂

That’s an awesome table! Great thinking on the knobs. It really came together nicely.

Thanks Allison! I’m always excited when I can re-purpose something like those knobs!

Using knobs as feet is genius! I have so many from picking things up on sale… what a great way to use them! And Marshalls deserves a shoutout. Another spot that gets me in trouble just as much as Target : )

Yes! I can get in trouble at every department in Marshall’s. It’s really hard to get to the home stuff in the back without wandering through the shoes 🙂
