April Goals

Loving Life

April will be FUN and stressful. But all good stress I think! I’m so lucky to be going to my first blogging conference this month! On April 23rd, I’m hopping on a jet-plane to Salt Lake City for SNAP. If you read my March Report Card, I mentioned a hair crimper. It’s part of the SNAP experience! We’ve got two 80’s themed events going on at SNAP, so I am splurging on a crimper – what would an 80’s prom or and 80’s PJ party be like without crimped hair? Between all the fun stuff, I will be attending a ton of classes that I know will help me make the blog even better. If you happen to be attending too, let me know, I’d love to meet you in person!

On that note, here are my April goals:

1. Be PROACTIVE at SNAP: In my mind, I’ve got this. Be bold, introduce yourself to people, sit with new people each meal. It all sounds a little scary, but doable. I’m afraid I’m going to have so much fun with the first group I find, that I will limit my experience. And it’s so much more comfortable to not put yourself out there with new people each day:)

2. Schedule guest contributors for A Prudent Life: My plans are still evolving, but I love the idea of having a team of contributors. It’s so fun to see what other people create, and I’m honored to share it. Having a team will also help meet my longer term goal of providing great content every weekday. I’ll still be posting my own projects every week too!

3. Finish online editing class: I had the wild realization one day that I write for a living now. That epiphany threw me into a search for a course to improve my skills. After looking at a few options, a course in editing really stood out because it will help with both my  own writing and with reviewing the work of others as I expand. The course is going well, I just need to make sure I stay on top of it as things get hectic this month.

4. Submit first post to PopSugar Select: Oh, did I forget to mention I was approved as a PopSugar Select Home blogger?  As I’ve gone along on my blogger journey, one of my guiding principles has been to step outside my comfort and confidence level. And not to fear rejection, but to consider it part of the experience. Using that, I applied to PopSugar last week and wasn’t sure if I would hear anything back as they review your blog and have less than 100 Home bloggers. Imagine my shock when I got an email that I was accepted! I’m not sure what this will bring, but if they publish one of my posts in April, I will definitely be sharing that info here!

Since I’m traveling this month, I thought I’d also mention one of my favorite things to do on trips – catch up on magazines! To me, airports, airplanes, and car rides feel like guilt free time to catch up on my favorite reads. Did you know you can get great deals on magazines through Amazon?

Three of my current favorites are Better Homes & Gardens, HGTV Magazine, & Inc.   I’ve already got a stack of them ready to take to SNAP! What’s your favorite mag? I’m always looking for new ones to check out!
