There’s a little secret behind all the cute Instagram photos you see of everyone’s funny letter board sayings. No one shows you how long it takes to swap out the quotes if you don’t know how to organize letter board letters!

We’ve gone through a couple of iterations of our own letter organization, but finally have a simple system that makes changing our felt boards SO MUCH FASTER.

The best solution for you will depend on your level of letter board addiction. If you have a sane level of restraint and just have one board with one set of letters OR you have multiple sets of letters and only want the best, order this awesome organizer with 40 labeled slots.

If you have multiple sets of letters, I found this more affordable TWO PACK of letter organizers with 36 slots.

I put each letter of the alphabet into one slot, taking up the first 26. The numbers 0-9 took up another 5 slots (2 numbers per opening). That left the last 5 available for various symbols and punctuation. Perfect!

Before I ordered those, the old craft organizer we were using had a few letters in each opening. It was better than our original shoebox method, but still wasted time.

The first time we used the new containers, Corey thought we had forgotten some of our boards because we finished switching them from New Year sayings to Valentine’s Day ideas so quickly!

If you have multiple sets of letters in different colors or sizes, I recommend also picking up a box to organize your organizers. I found one at Michaels on sale, and it helps contain everything in one easy to carry box.

To quickly find the box of letters we need, I used my new Cricut Joy and Smart Labels. Joy wrote on the material, and them promoted me to swap to the blade so she could score around the outside of each line of text to create custom stickers.

I’ll be ordering more of the Smart Label material ASAP. When you need small letters, this is a perfect solution and faster than weeding tiny vinyl letters.

I did find that the labels are easiest to use if you pull off the extra material around the outside of the labels first (as seen below).

Aren’t they cute?

The size of these containers would also work well with file folder labels as an alternative option!

Now that all the letters are under control and the message boards are easier to change out, I better start thinking of ideas for the next holiday!

Hi Shelley, The office backing is actually just wrapping paper from Target! I wasn’t planning on changing the backing (it was black and white geometric Nate Berkus Fabric from JoAnn before), but the fabric wasn’t working with the new curtains so I impulsively changed it to something I had on hand. I will say that in person the wrapping paper does NOT have the same rich look as using fabric. I’m going on the hunt to switch back to fabric soon!

I have also used another gold dotted paper that was a Target peel & stick wallpaper. You can see it here: https://www.polishedhabitat.com/water-closet-organization-decor/

      Hope that helps!
